My 360 Collapses After 5 (or so) Years of Faithful Services
« on: August 10, 2012, 09:57:09 PM »
DBBQ members, after many good years, my 360 has been showing signs of great distress and it has finally shown that it is no longer capable of carrying on a on-line play.

3 times it has shown 2 red rings and shut off in midst of FM4 play, twice in on-line racing :o

Until I get 360 replaced, I'm afraid that I am out of on-line play . . . I think I can still play off line by myself but the rigour of on-line play proved to be too much for the old bugger.

So, I'll see if I can continue an off-line competition or something . . .  I have been cooking up something last week or so . . .

Boy, that's a sad thread headline to see.  :(

If your hard drive is okay, look for an Arcade version.  Might want to look for used ones at game stores, too.

Sorry to hear that GRD, RIP Xbox360  :(

For people like me with little time to play online offline challenges are always fun, can't wait to see what you have in store.

On-line, off-line, no matter.  My 360 is now pretty much done for.  I tried just about everything I could to increase the cooling to the CPU to no better outcome.  Now it is good for about 5 minutes then it dies.

I found several refurbished 360 Slim 250GB for less than $200.  It is a great deal if it is properly refurbished.  That would be my best chance.

look on kijiji.ca, in Niagara, there are people who will buy dead 360/PS3 for 50 bucks or so...and they either refurbush them, or use them for parts...will help towards the cost of a new one.

Don't get a refurbished man, get a new one. With all the pleasure you get out of it and elite racing requires good connections and efficient operating system.

Sorry to hear, GRD.  Hopefully you can find a cheapy soon.

How do I get this exophase card to show my data?
Problems usually occur if you have your xbox live settings on block/private.  If that isn't the case, you might want to ask them for help.

I saw that this morning as I was going to work!  It is true; good things come to those who wait!  Thanks for keeping an eye out for poor GRD, VN!

I have managing director's approval to proceed with the purchase therefore I'll be going for it this afternoon.

MS probably figures that everyone who wanted to play games over the summer has pretty much purchased the 360.  Now they want to capture the ones unable to decide.  Good strategy, I would say.  Get the sales & revenue, then at the end finish it up with a last surge to close out summer sales.

BestBuy pack has 3 games (Halo Reach, GoW2, Fable2) + Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.  I don't want/need any of those games but since they are free so I'll take 'em and let my kids play.  FutureShop pack has the 3 games + Final Fantasy XIVIVVXX or something which I abhor . . .

Sorry to hear that GRD.  I have a feeling my xbox is clunking out too. Lots of game freezes recently and re-boots.  This is my 3rd box and its going on a little over a year and 1/2

Huh?  Is that the original white monster or the new black slim?

I have noticed that the frequency of freezes and re-boots have increased before it eventually caved in.

I've gone through 3 so far (but only paid for 1).  The slim will be 2nd 360 I've paid for but #4 on count.
