15-Year-Old Columbus Gamer Collapses After 4-Day Gaming Marathon

These stories drive me nuts when I read them, especially the mom's comments...

Quote
COLUMBUS, Ohio --
He only came out of his bedroom to use the bathroom, to pick up some snacks in the kitchen, and to take a quick shower. Otherwise, 15-year-old Tyler Rigsby was locked in his bedroom, absorbed in an alternate reality: Xbox's Modern Warfare 3. His mom says he was in there for at least four days. Maybe five.

Love Guru, while not a great movie, had some good quotes.  "To know something is good.  To do something is God."

I'm glad to know mom was keeping an eye on him for the 4 (maybe 5) continuous days that Tyler was allowed to do this . . . yes, that's sarcasm.

If one cannot manage him/herself then someone should have intervened to prevent this from occurring, not point the blame after the fact.  This is how suicides happen.

Man, I can't imagine my parents even coming close to letting me lock myself in my room for 4 days straight when I was a teenager.  I just don't understand the negligence (both on the part of the parent and the teen).

Granted, when I picked up Skyrim there were a few days of vacation where waking up and playing the game was pretty much my entire day.  But heck, I still ate and drank like a normal human being, even if it was in PJs the whole time :P

Yeah, then you'll be able to play indefinitely, not fall flat after only 4 days!
