360 Acting Up Again
« on: August 04, 2012, 01:33:01 PM »
So, I have a problem here.  I'm currently on my 4th Xbox 360.  I currently own one of the newer slim models (which are supposedly flawless) and it has once again (2nd time) started freezing on me after I had sent it in for repair once.

MS fixed it for free the first time (out of warranty) but now they have taken over two weeks with no response as to how they will handle my issue a second time around.

I'm going to try a cooling fan because it seems more of an overheating issue.  When I play Skyrim the system freezes after about 5 minutes but it seems other games that don't run the system as hard, will play fine for quite some time.  I played Dead Island for over a hour yesterday with no problem.  Regardless, the system should play "all" games the same without overheating.

I have a perfectly working PS3 that I've owned since 2008.  I feel like a complete lunatic by sticking with the 360 but I've idiotically positioned myself so that most of my game purchases are 360 games.

I will definitely reconsider the next time around.  This is literally madness IMO.

Incredibly frustrating!

Wow dude, sorry to hear about your troubles.  It seems like the people who have problems with the 360 for whatever reason continue to have problems over and over again.  I don't know what it is.  I either hear of people who have never had one problem or people who are on their 6th Xbox lol.

Hope you get it fixed soon.  Having your gaming interrupted due to technical problems with the console is extremely frustrating.

I'm on my 3rd original design 360 and this one has recently started giving me trouble (2 red lights) when my son plays COD.  Forza & Minecraft runs fine but Test Drive Ferrari also started giving trouble.

Mine is definitely heat related.  I have tried standing on its side, flat, vacuuming all airflow holes to no avail.  Thankfully it is in cooler basement.  I've even took it apart to see if I could improve the airflow (I could not).

So, try placing it somewhere cool and ensure all breathing holes are open and not obstructed by anything.  Try blowing air (using a normal fan) towards it.
