Bring cool cars with cool paints/decals.  You've gotta race in style; even if you can't win, you should at least look cool!

My team manager tells me that our team is suffering budget problem because we order out all the time.  As a result, my team's upgrade budget is limited and cannot hit 400PI.  He will do all he can but Team GRD's Miata will fall short of 400PI . . . (we haven't even purchased a car yet!).

Feel free to post your team's car build, development, and livery/sponsers!

Built 3 MX-5 Miatas so far:

1994 MX-5 Miata, C-385, 144 HP, 118 LB-FT, 2046 LBS
2007 MX-5 Roadster Coupe, C386, 158 HP, 142 LB-FT, 2499 LBS
2010 MX-5 Superlight, C-385, 125 HP, 123 LB-FT, 2187 LBS
2001 Mazdaspeed Roadster (this is an ugly one so I'm skipping it)

Time to do some testin' . . .

Suzuka East 5 Lap Shakedown (no downforce, default set-up)
1994 - 00:59.513
2010 - 00:58.869 (faster time with -19 HP, +5 LB-FT, +141 LBS, figure that one out)
2007 - 00:58.922 (most HP, highest torque, but heaviest)

There you have it folks.  1994 Miata is quick but the chassis is showing its age.  2007 has the most potential but also the heaviest, nullifying its superior power/torque.  It has the most potential I think.  2010 Superlight has the best handling but I'm afraid will suffer from low HP compared to others.

My mind is made up.  My car will be 2010 Superlight 385PI.

My team manager is upset that I put down payment on the most expensive car instead of putting money in upgrades.  I told him that the car already comes equipped with great upgrades therefore it is actually money saved.  He still was not convinced so I said I'll make them healthy lunches instead of ordering in supersized combos because Superlight Miata also needs lighter pit crew.

My secret spring rate calculator informs me that the stock spring rate of 561 lb/in is pretty darn close, even though a touch too stiff.

My C400 01' is a half a second slower than your 94'...
...on a two lap test at East.
The C400 94' is a full second quicker than the C400 07' in the same 2 lap testing.

You know I like racing like a FAT KID likes cherry pie. So I will be ready. You would not think this 280 LBS would slow these cars down but it does. My lap time prove it so thanks for the extra donuts.

I had completely overlooked the Superlight and will have to do a bit more testing.

Hey whats up, ok tested a couple of the Miata's.  GRD my times for the 2 I have tested are identical to your times. Should make for an interesting series.

59.000 in the first Mazda in the garage
 58.800 in the Mazda superlite

Didnt get a chance to test the other Mazda's and wont get time until I get back from the river. So far they seem pretty evenly matched.

Good to hear back from you Hot Dog!

Also good to hear you are on pace, Medik8d.

We do not have official race scheduled for tomorrow but does not mean that we cannot have an unofficial gathering for those who can make it.  We might do some shakedown runs on tracks NOT on race schedule, i.e. Tsukuba, Silverstone, Hockenheim, etc.
