I just picked it up this weekend. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to play this at all but there seems to be a summer lull in gaming and the reviews were good so I burned the Traget gift card I'd been carrying around since Christmas and I'm quite impressed so far.

I can't say I'm all that excited to dive into the multiplayer, but if there's a DBBQ presence, then I might be up for it.

First things first, I've got to work through the story. It's good...really suprisingly good so far.

I was worried how R* would handle the franchise given that it's been a decade since we last saw Max. I was worried we'd get a Max Red Dead LA Noire Grand Theft Payne clone, but so far it really feels like it's own thing and they've done Max justice with what has got to be one of the most damaged human beings I've ever played as a protagonist in a game.

Best,
AJm

You know, I loved rhe first two games and am really interested n this new one. My situation is such that I will be really limited on the new games I'm getting for the time being though.

One question.  Are you still diving through the air in slow motion? That was a big part of what made Max Payne and Dead to Rights so cool and I was a little disappointed that they took that mechanic out of the new Dead to Rights.

From the vids I saw of the gameplay streaming, IT IS THERE and really bad a** from what I saw in the Max 3 gameplay.

Oh yeah, shoot-dodge, that slo-motion diving through the air is there! It wouldn't be Max Payne without it. Someone, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Max was the first to introduce the concept before the likes of The Matrix movies made it "cool." It's certainly the first I remember encountering the concept.

Maybe it's just playing it on "hard"(I didn't care so much back in the PC days when games were <ahem> free *cough, cough*), but the mechanic doesn't feel so all-powerful this go around. Max is a lot more fragile this time around, both physically and psychologically, which suits the character development just fine.

I was thinking about doing a proper review format posting here if no one else has once I finish the game.

I really wasn't planning on buying this, but got thirsty for a new game to burn some time on and the reviews on this, plus the pedigree really sold me and I'm glad to have picked it up.

Best,
Pol

I got to near the end, the airport hanger. Enough said.
Does anyone have any tactical help. Between the shooters and grenades, I have to quit before I rage ::)

This weekend is a Double XP weekend which I understand if you are fighting in a crew it boosts XP even more.

I'll have to check out the MP and start the climb to Level 50
