Going out of town for the weekend.
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:07:28 PM »
My son has a specialist visit in St. Petersburg (about 3 hours away from us) on Monday so we are leaving tomorrow and going to spend Sunday on the beach.

I'll be poking around on the forums but won't be online and probably will miss the BF3 game Monday night as we'll be pretty worn out by the time we get home I'm sure.

Have fun on the Beach Sunday Tim.  Hope the specialist visit goes well.  It'll be weird not seeing your name online on Steam.  :)

Got home after diner tonight.  Had a great time at the beach.  The specialist visit went smooth.  They didn't really tell us anything new.

Short version: last year our son started having vocal and motor tics.  Nothing major but then earlier this year they spiked and got really bad.  So we've been trying to figure out what they are or what caused them.

Since then the tics have have almost gone completely away.  Some doctors think that vocal/motor tics can be caused by an auto-immune response to certain infections like the strep virus.  They call it PANDAS.  So we went to a place that specializes in Tourettes and PANDAS.  They basically said to keep monitoring him and see if he has another bout of tics after getting sick or to try and find out if anyone around him was sick right before.

Basically nobody knows anything for sure and we aren't any wiser than we were before lol.  Good news is he seems to be much improved but they could come back or maybe not, nobody knows.  Medical stuff is so frustrating!

Welcome back Udder  :) I know what you mean about "frustrating" especially when it comes to our kids health, you feel helpless at times.

Sorry to hear that the specialist visit wasn't more informative, but it's great to hear that he's improved!  Medical stuff is indeed frustrating.  It always feels like someone should know an answer for what is going on considering it's 2012 and we've had all of these medical breakthroughs.  It's very disappointing when you can't get a solid answer about that kind of stuff.  In any case, at least you had fun at the beach!
