Got the game and man, this game grows on you...not very user friendly at first, the interface really needs getting use to and the whole set-up takes time to be familiar with it....but it is pretty damn good, hard at times if you explore off the beaten path but the combat is great, your Pawns are fun,you get to create your main one that will be with you all the time and level up(you can even send him to a special place where other players can play with them, while you are offline, and they gain experience that way),and pick 2 others at the same place,to help you out, they don't level so after a while you just send them back and pick 2 more closer to your stats, pretty cool system...

Not the best looking game at times but the atmosphere are open World is huge with tons, and I mean tons of stuff to find...the bigger ennemies are huge, long hard fights but so well done,it's great.

The combat is a lot of fun.  I really like how you can develop your pawn through your actions.

Instead of earning gambits like in FF 12 or just assigning how characters react ala Dragon Age, I think it is really cool how you have to condition your pawn to react accordingly in certain situations, yeah that first fight will be tough but the 100th when your pawn has some guidelines of how to handle a battle it is neat to witness

I was watching some gameplay video of DD this weekend and it has officially hit my radar screen hard. I have seen alot of comparions of a hybrid Skyrim/Dark Souls/KoA which is right down my alley.

Same.  I'll wait until it goes on sale.  I had never heard about this game until this past weekend.  I decided to check out a couple of youtube videos of the gameplay and BOOM I'm hooked before I even have the game.  I still am too into Diablo 3 to play anything else just yet, but this is a must have for me when the price is right.

LOL..I had heard about it awhile back but really paid no attention to it. Actually, I was watching on a live stream internet channel this weekend and was searching under Dark Souls and saw 'Dragon's Dogma" and thought to myself.."oh yeah, this is suppose to be a D&D type RPG".,..I watched about 15 min and my jaw was on the floor. I am pretty sold on it from what I watched. Just a matter of WHEN i buy it.  ;D

I couldn't resist and picked this game up last night on my way home from work.  Has a Skyrim feel to it for sure and I like the survival horror atmosphere when you travel out at night. Found out the hard way that nightime is best to rest and wait to venture out in the mornings. lol...  pitch black darkness with only your lanterns to lead the way. Very very cool.

Fiddled around with the pawn system and ventured into the rift a few times to summon help. I really like the search feature as you can easily summon friends pawns or search by a bunch of different filters.

So far, about 3 hours into the game and it has me hooked.

You're teasing me... My wife is going to be mad if I jump on this one but I don't see myself holding out much longer.

I saw one video where a guy was out at night and he had a special arrow that acted as a flare at night.  So he would shoot it up into a tree and it would light up the area around him for those night time fights.  Looked awesome.

Some reviews say the graphics are lacking a bit.  The youtube videos look OK, but you never really get the full feel of the game.  how do you feel about the graphics compared to Skyrim?

Graphically, it does have some glitches with NPC's popping up has some rough edges here and there, but nothing to me that is game breaking. Of course you have your Japanese Rock Music playing in the opening menu. lol

Graphics are similar imo to Skyrim. When I first put the game in and started playing, it reminded me of Skyrim immediately, so I would say it is on par with Skyrim.

Like I said before, the atmosphere at night is off the hook! I mean, you are like walking on pins and needles, just inching forward. It is best to try to stay to the path and/or road. I only went as far as about 100 yards from the town gates and had this dreaded sense of 'what is out there?'

I know you've mainly been playing PS3 games, but which platform are you playing this on?  I want to make sure I get it somewhere that I can trade Pawns with other people.  That sounds like one of the cooler aspects of the game as well.  Watching a bunch more videos and reading more reviews today.  Just tempting myself.

LOL

I did the same thing until I just folded like a tent and picked it up.

I bought it for PS3

A few days in and I am totally hooked on this game! Got my Strider (dagger, bow class) to level 17 and can now change my vocation to a hybrid Magic Archer. I shoot insanely awesome arrows now and can also learn skills with the staff. I have only scratched the surface with the open world and 80% of it is still undiscovered.

A few things I noticed, there is NO FASTRACKING to locations. You will be retreading back to alot of places....the only thing you can do is purchase a "magic stone" that will only allow you to warp back to the capital city, otherwise, you have to trek it all the time. Some missions I have so far will take me a good 2 game days to get too, which means traveling at night which is quite intimidating. Make sure you have plenty of oil handy to re-light your lantern. If your lantern goes out, well...everything is pitch black and tough to navigate let alone fight off monsters.

I have already met my dimise a few times running into areas I really should not be going to. The monsters/enemies do not level based on your level...so, you have to go back when you think you are ready for the challenge.

You cannot wield weapons or armor that are not specific to your class unless you go to a hybrid class. You CAN switch vocations at trainers or inn keepers for 1000 Discipline Points, so if you start a character and dont like it, you dont have to restart a new game.

The Pawn system is epic. Reminds me of summoning in Dark/Demons souls. You can view stats of the pawn and also search by level and/or class.

Overall, a really good open world RPG that you can sink your teeth into and suck away the hours and hours of gameplay.

Here is a video of the class gameplay
