I mean it's crazy to sit and keep supporting a hardware platform that is totally unstable. While sitting right next to 360 I have a system that plays the same games (other than exclusives), doesn't charge me a fee to play online, and has much more stable hardware.  If I knew now what I didn't know when my first 360 died, then I would have most definitely given up on it back then.

You're starting to sound like one of us... (PS3 Players)

Don't forget that on top of being more stable the PS3 plays Blu-rays!  I've gotten a million times more use out of my PS3's.  I own two of them (at the time they were the cheapest Blu-ray players on the market) and both are still totally functional.  I've owned 4 Xbox 360's and only one of them works.  Each one I've had to buy after the other died.  My slim has been the only one to survive.  While I don't classify myself as a Fanboy for Sony I definitely see where the MS hate comes from.  I hate MS with a passion... But I'm not about to get rid of my 360 and game library.

There are a few things that are tying me down to the 360 like yourself.  I have an extensive friends list, a XBox Live subsription I just renewed two weeks ago, and a much larger library of games than what I have for my PS3.

I also think that the overall "Live" service is a better experience for gaming online as it should be considering I'm paying for it.  Playing online with the PS3 can be a mess at times and lets not forget that Sony shut down online play for over a month due to their security breach.

There are positives and negatives to both systems.  I guess thats why I own both.

Yep, for me that is THE BIG DRAWBACK with PSN. Only a handful of MP games are decent enough to have a lobby and stuff. No 'Parties" like XBL. I don't even think you can voice chat on PSN even if you are playing diff games. lol

For me though, I was the same way. HUGE 360 library and only a few PS3 titles. Over the past 6 months though, I have steadily grown my PS3 library and even picked up cross-platform games like Kingdoms of Amular on the PS3 instead of the 360.

Now, I have a tougher time firing up my 360 as my gameplay over the past few months have been exclusively on my PS3

Well, I just heard back from M$ and they are indeed going to fix my slim 360 for free!  Good on them for cutting me some slack without having to call and complain too much.

If MS and Sony want to compete they need to create a console based on PC hardware, not hacked, cut up and glued together to create a console. They won't however due to the fact that proprietary hardware requires proprietary parts. You can't just slap a PC power supply into a 360 although I can teach you how to hack one to make it work if you really don't want to have "M$" charge you to do it with the specific piece. $$$$ is key, they could really care less about the consumer. I hate saying that but after dealing with Microsoft,Dell,HP,AMD,Nvidia,Sony blah blah it goes on for years, that is the realization I have come to.

I have a gaming PC sitting at my feet but I play the 360 and PS Vita ten times more. Why? I don't have to load new drivers, hunt down a fix for CCS or Nvidia Graphics card fixes. Or worry about my processors core count and Cache limiting me on what I can and cannot play.

Launch a console with LEGITIMATE PC hardware, give us our beloved quick updates and call it a day. It wouldn't be hard, it really would not. However us being able to go out and grab say a 6770 [ updates from insiders is pointing to that being a starting point for the new consoles]  because the card our new 720 shipped with blew rather than having microsoft fix it would destroy their bottom line. I love gaming, I just hate the big middle finger we get when it comes to getting our systems fixed. I thank god he gave me the ability to fix my own electronics, makes life so much easier.
