Star Wars the Old Republic MMO.
« on: November 11, 2011, 07:59:14 AM »
Anyone planning on playing this?...I finally got invited to the Beta test for the weekend, can`t wait to try it out,see what class I might roll with when it comes out on the 20th of December...got my Pre-order code last week as well so it will start on the 15th for those who pre ordered.

It`s not free to play of course but I will go with the 3 month deal at first(that makes 4 months) and we will see after...if it`s like Rift,4 months was enough, had a great time but I don`t think I will ever be able to play a MMO for 4 years, like I did with WoW anymore hehe...

I would love to play this game but have a hard time justifying a subscription when there are so many free to play options out there.

seriously thinking about it; only I'm not sure when. I'm going to be ball and chained to Skyirm for quite a while (you know how long it takes me to be done with a game  :o) and also plan on having lots of fun with HP Legos 5 thru 7. Then it may not be too long for Mass Effect!! So I'm not sure when I'll have time.

I also got a Beta test weekend invite this afternoon.  It says it's for a future weekend and doesn't say which one, but I'll be happy to try it out.  As it stands right now I do plan on getting the game.  It's one of the games i've been looking forward to the most, although I have to say if I was invited to this weekend's events, I would've still played Skyrim instead.

I canceled my pre-order awhile ago and have been doing my best to resist buying this since I signed up for the WoW annual pass.  Looking forward to reading anyone's impressions that have been playing the game that might push me over the edge into buying this one.  :)

I just got an email saying I got into the Path of Exile beta so I'm going to check that out. Honestly I am pinning all my hopes on Guild Wars 2 and am just waiting until that is released. As much as I would probably love SWTOR, I'm definitely not playing a subscription based game. I don't have the time to play t make it worth it.

I also have some interest in The Secret World mostly due to Ragnar Tornquit being involved in its development.

I'm playing Path of Exile also Udder, maybe we can team up in there,it has multiplayer co-op I believe but didn't need any help so far so I didn't try the co-op.

As for Star Wars,I love it...it's your basic MMO at first look, with a Star wars theme all around of course but it's the overall story and story of your class that makes it different, and that is super well done. All the quests are voiced, with a cutscene and choices of answer like in Mass Effect...you have 3 choices of answer and at some point, you have to decide if you go Light side or Dark side...if you are in a party, everyone chooses an answer but there is roll of numbers and the highest is the answer/result everyone will have. This gives you social points as well. It's a little confusing at first but once everyone understands the system,it's great.

I have a Trooper on the Republic side and a Sith Inquisitor on the Dark side,at level 10,you get to choose your sub class, from 2 choices and you get a companion as well that takes care of the crafting and all,you send him on missions to do all these things, you can even send him sell all your garbage...so far the Empire side is better but Republic story is cool also.

You like MMO's and you like the Star Wars Universe, this is a no brainer, you will love it.

I have a pretty cool guild on the Republic side so If you guys ever want to play, shoot me a P.M. and if you want to join our guild,i'll invite you in...it's a group of players I use to play LoTRO with and it's a fun bunch of mature players.Anymore questions, feel free to ask.

I'm currently playing and plan to stay on after the free trial month.  The story is very engaging.  Almost feels like a single player game with the added option of playing with other people.  I'm enjoying it.
