Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception early impressions
« on: November 04, 2011, 10:36:26 AM »
Hey everyone, as most of you here at the Q know...Uncharted is my favourite game series, and I have been waiting ever since Uncharted 3 was announced for it to arrive...and it does not dissapoint. I am on chapter 8 out of 22, and so far I have played one of the big set pieces...the burning chateau, and it was fun. Naughty Dog has hit it on all levels so far, story is great...there is a great early sequence filling you in on how Sully and Nathan Drake met, it has the puzzle and jumping/climbing sections from past games...and have made some improvements to the hand to hand combat. You can now use objects during a fight, pull the pin on a guy you are fighting, and I look forward to seeing what else I can pull off.

I am digging this game, and if you loved Uncharted 1 & 2, will love this game as well...whether you buy it new, or wait for the eventual price drop it should be played at some point.

i will give a full review once I am finished the story.

I'm also a huge fan of this series.  Unfortunately I'll have to wait until Christmas to play this year.  I had to choose between this and Skyrim and as much as I love Uncharted I knew it wouldn't keep me busy through Christmas and Skyrim would be able to fill that void.

Looking forward to reading your review, just be careful with spoilers!!

Avoiding spoilers will be tough...I think there might be a few...but I will keep them out when at all possible.  8)

Meeting Sully was a pain for a bit but that's sorted.

I had forgotten that figuring out just exactly what you are supposed to do
and where to go isn't always that evident.

Still fun working out the puzzles so far though.

I thought that too...was one of the frustrations i was gonna note in my review...but once I remembered how to play the game I got it sorted out.

I have only played Uncharted 2 of the series and loved it. My son and I worked at it together and will have some fond father son memories to look back on I'm sure. Is the this a "must buy now" Vanished or "it can wait" based on my situation?

It is a must play...not sure what your situation is...but I can always send you my copy once I am done with it if you want to play it.
