My wife had been asking for a Wii for a few years, but I kept postponing buying one until this past Christmas (2010). I knew she would like the red one, and the price was less than $200, so I gave in. I don't think we have any across the internet MP games for it yet, but we can at least exchange Miis now.

Is it true you only get your player code through Mario Kart? I have that code, is that the code that is the one I use as my Wii ID?

They are different codes.  I can't quite remember where you find the console code but I believe it is in the system settings somewhere.  I would check for you but I sold mine.

The how-to instructions were in the first message:

1. Know your friend's Wii number. This is a 16-digit code that's essentially the online address for each individual Wii. Your friend can find this number on the first page of his address book.
