I started getting better numbers through comcast cable when I went to digital voice.  So did my brother.  I guess the extra bandwidth is there for the phone?  They don't advertise the extra speed with digital voice but I was sure happy to see it!

Yeah I bet you are right. My sister lives in the house I use to live back in my home town and her internet speed was quite a bit better than I had, and she has digital phone and I didn't.

We pay extra for a faster cable connection but it still only gets a B rating? Trane at least I beat you on the DL speed  :P but your UL speed is insane  :o

I wonder if that is for the digital voice. I bet it has to be better for voice "travel" maybe. Next time I'm at my sister's I will check hers.

Are you using the new Comcast MODEM for your internet?

I just added Comcast digital phone (dropping Verizon for poor service) and plan on running the phone off the new Comcast "phone" MODEM and keep my current Motorola MODEM for the intenet.

I could use the new phone MODEM for my intenet, but that adds some rewiring in the house.

Heres my numbers:

Yes.  Comcast splits the wire coming into the house.  One to the dvr receiver the other to their modem.  We have main DECT phone plugged directly into modem and all the other phones run wirelessly off of that.

Interesting that you have Comcast phone too and similar speeds.  They must let the speed loose for users of digital voice.

Well I checked my sisters and it runs about 12 dL and .90 uL so I guess the digital voice deal isn't the case with them.

IAC I bet your ping and Jitter is what caused your "B" rating. My avg score with an "A" was 4.38 and yours was 4.34. From what I read any ping under 100 was considered good.

I replaced my Motorola modem and am now using the same modem that my Didgital phone uses. My DL times dropped but UL went up.

Here is mine. I also use comcast and have digital voice. The one thing to check though is to see if you pay the extra $10 bucks a month for "Speed Boost". I don't because it isnt worth the money to get extra bandwidth for only a couple minutes and then it drops back down to regular speed. This could be what is boosting the DL and UP speeds for Comcast users or anyone else for that matter that pays a little extra. IDK but just a thought.

That's a good point REDBELL,  I don't think its worth it either.  I don't have the speed boost.  I cant imagine my speeds would be any higher if I added that... it would just be money out the window.

Agree Trane, that would be money out the window. I don't have the option to get Fios yet, but, I would love to see someones speed test with dedicated bandwidth.  :o
