I know the Christmas holiday is upon us - and it is a time to give, rather than receive, but I just couldn't pass it up.
Ordered a new Team Associated TC7 (1/10 scale 4wd touring car)
The new version is out, the TC7.1 and goes for $479.99.
I just can't justify that kind of coin. Because it doesn't come with anything but what's in the first pic. You have to also buy; servo, ESC, motor, body, wheels, & tires. Not to mention a radio, or at very least another receiver.
I picked up the "old" version for $289.99, minus a coupon for $24 from Tower Hobbies. So, picked up a brand spankin' new Touring Car for $265.99, shipped.
I have an older version of this car; Team Associated TC6.1 Worlds Car version.
And, while the two look very, very similar, there have been a ton of updates to the TC7 from the TC6.1. I'm not the best R/C driver in the world, not too bad really, but mostly I just like to have fun and really enjoy racing these things. And to basically get a car for over $200 less than the "latest & greatest", well, I had too. They are not going to make the TC7 anymore (although all the parts will be readily available) but I can still hold my own with the old TC6.1, so I can't wait to get this thing built and see what it will do.
Have been told by some other racers (who could care less if I spent the money or not) that I could benefit from the newer car. The TC7 has a completely redesigned (geometry) front and rear suspension, as well as all new fiber reinforced plastics, it's almost a carbon fiber plastic now. It also has a 1-piece motor mount/rear bulkhead, whereas the TC6 series is 3 pieces. I've read on the internet (so IT HAS to be true) that the new shocks are some of the best in the business now. They are made by Fox Racing and have a Kahsima coating, which is a new process of anodizing patented by a Japanese company. There are also many other "upgrades" to the car as well (that I won't continue to bore you with), and just pumped to try this thing out.
I know it won't be revolutionary or anything, it is still a 1/10 scale R/C car... just really enjoying these things as of late. Was telling my wife the other day that I realize how much I missed playing and racing these toy cars!!
Anyway, thought I would share as I am feeling a little guilty getting this thing - but it's not like my kids are gonna go hungry or anything. I already told my better half that she could get me a lump of coal for Christmas this year - as I have already got my gift!! hahaha!!
